With its head office located in Kumbo, Bui Division of the North West Region of Cameroon, KforC addresses key challenges such as limited access to education, poverty, inadequate school infrastructure, and insufficient teacher training.

Who We Are
About KforC
Knowledge for Children Cameroon (KforC) is a non-governmental organization founded in 2005 by Mr. Maimo Jacob Shiynyuy, an educationist, and Mr. Anorld Roozenbeek, a development worker from the Netherlands. KforC is dedicated to improving access to quality education and empowering vulnerable communities in Cameroon. With its head office located in Kumbo, Bui Division of the North West Region of Cameroon, KforC addresses key challenges such as limited access to education, poverty, inadequate school infrastructure, and insufficient teacher training. Through various programs focused on teacher development, educational sponsorships and community empowerment, KforC strives to create a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable education system for all.
Knowledge for Children (KforC) was founded in Cameroon with main objective to improve the quality of education in rural areas. KforC is registered under the Cameroon Ministry of Territorial Administration and works in collaboration with the external services of the Ministry of Basic Education, Youth and Civic Education and Social Affairs. KforC has her international offices in Masaka, Uganda and Utrecht, in The Netherlands.

What we do
KforC engages innovative and sustainable community-based interventions to achieve inclusive education. Her main program components include;
Teacher capacity development through pedagogic training seminars, conferences, workshops and on-the-job coaching,
- Pupils capacity development & education sponsorship for Orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs)
- Provision of educational resources like teaching guides, textbooks and didactic materials to school children and teachers
- Youth empowerment through knowledge exchange and capacity building trainings
- Community development programs through leadership trainings, awareness campaigns and advocacy meetings.

Capacity Building Workshop Held in Mbiame: Strengthening Teachers, Strengthening Education.
Mbiame, Cameroon — 1 August 2026 As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the quality and resilience in education, a Teacher Capacity Building Workshop continued in Mbiame on 1 August 2026, bringing together more than 56 teachers for the second phase of the training. The workshop provided an important opportunity for teachers to strengthen their professional knowledge, share experiences, and develop practical skills that can improve teaching and learning in their classrooms. For teachers working in challenging educational contexts, continuous capacity building is particularly important. Beyond delivering lessons, teachers play a critical role in supporting learners, building confidence, promoting positive learning environments, and helping children remain engaged with education despite difficult circumstances. The strong participation of more than 56 teachers demonstrated the commitment of educators and communities to improving learning outcomes and ensuring that children continue to receive quality education. The second phase of the workshop builds on previous capacity-building efforts, with a focus on equipping teachers with practical knowledge and approaches that they can apply in their daily work.At its heart, the initiative recognizes a simple but powerful reality: when teachers are supported and empowered, children benefit. Continued investment in teacher development is therefore essential to building stronger classrooms, more resilient schools, and a more effective education system. Defying the Odds: Education and Resilience in Cameroon’s North West Region

By backing local teachers and securing community networks, we are helping the vulnerable children m build a foundational shield against the hardships of today, ensuring they are ready to lead tomorrow. For nearly a decade, the ongoing sociopolitical crisis has heavily disrupted everyday life across the North west and South west regions of Cameroon. Schools have faced forced closures, families have experienced massive displacements, and thousands of children have been left vulnerable to severe educational gaps. Yet, despite the deep instability, the drive to learn remains unstoppable. At Knowledge for Children (KforC), our mission has shifted from standard development to a critical, urgent focus: maintaining educational resilience in a crisis zone. The ACAPS Thematic Report on Cameroon highlights that the education crisis in the North West and South West regions has affected hundreds of thousands of children. In many rural communities, safe, formal classrooms are non-existent. However, education cannot wait for a crisis to end. True resilience means adapting to the immediate environment, ensuring that a child’s right to basic literacy is protected no matter the circumstances.How KforC Protects the FutureTo counter the profound impacts of the conflict, our community-based interventions focus on rapid adaptation and security: Grassroots Learning Spaces: Supporting community-led initiatives that allow children to gather safely and master foundational reading and writing skills. Psychosocial and Teacher Support: Equipping local educators with the tools needed to manage trauma, adapt lesson delivery, and provide emotional anchors for highly stressed pupils. Child Protection: Integrating child protection measures to shield internally displaced or vulnerable youth from immediate risks, as outlined by humanitarian updates from organizations like UNFPA Cameroon.
